Leona Heinze
Leona Marie Heinze, 104, of Manson passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Manson. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15th at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery in Manson.
Leona was born in Pomeroy, IA on January 10, 1920 to Floyd and Lena Rasmussen. She grew up on a farm near Manson. Leona was united in marriage to Otto Heinze on January 8, 1939 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manson. They spent the rest of their lives in Manson other than winters in Arizona. Otto passed away on December 14, 1987, Leona continued wintering in Arizona for the next thirty plus years. In June of 2023 she entered the Good Samaritan Society in Manson. Over the years she worked out of her home along with various jobs around the community. Leona was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending her later years in her home in Manson. Here she was surrounded by family and friends.
Leona is survived by her sons Merrill (Kay), Marvin (Judy) and Tom (Carol); 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Otto; daughter Susan Cruickshank and her sister Lois Lent.
