Marilyn Ann Moeding

Marilyn Ann Moeding, 86, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. The Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Mosignor Kevin McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Marilyn was born in Renwick, IA, on November 14, 1937, to Peter and Lenore (Schaeffer) Sadler. She grew up in Renwick, IA, where she graduated from High School. She went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College and Buena Vista for her teaching degree. She was united in marriage to John E. Moeding on May 10, 1957, in Eagle Grove, IA. They made their home in Thor, Cedar Falls, Manson and then Fort Dodge. Marilyn taught in Thor, Manson and NWW School Districts until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson and a longtime member of Holy Trinity Parish where she also served as a volunteer. She also volunteered at Trinity Regional Medical Center and served on the St. Edmond School Board. She enjoyed reading, sewing, playing cards, traveling and most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by her children Lori (Peter) Hintz, Jack (Laura) Moeding, Pete (Sonja) Moeding, Susan (Chris) Udermann, Mary Rinsem and Jayne (Keith) Kolacia; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her brother Keith (Phyllis) Sadler and her sister Jackie Zigrang. She was preceded in death by her husband John E. Moeding and her brother-in-law Jim Zigrang.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Marian Home’s Library Fund in Marilyn’s Honor.
