Dawnie Danner
Dawnie Danner, 89, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on June 28, 2024, at home. Born on September 7, 1934, in Carroll, Iowa, Dawnie was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa. She lived as a child in Denison, Rockwell City, Des Moines and Carroll. She graduated from Carroll High School and Iowa Central Community College.
Dawnie married Kenneth Henry Danner on January 2, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, IA. They lived in Philadelphia, PA, Albany, NY, and Portsmouth, VA, while Kenneth was in the Navy before moving to Ft. Dodge in 1956. She worked for Centel/Vista Telephone for 25 years, retiring in June 1993, as Customer Services Supervisor.
Dawnie was the mother of Pamela Dawn Junkmann (James), Terri Lynn Tripp (Fred) and Brian Kenneth Danner (Veronica). She was grandmother to seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was active in the community as Past-President of Business and Professional Women, Past-President of Wa Tan Ye, officer of Ft. Dodge Women’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Church Circle and member of Good Shepherd Lutheran (Ft. Dodge) and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Ankeny).
Dawnie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, son-in-law Steven Manship, grandson Spencer Manship, and parents Norbert and Mabel (Jessen) Kaspersen. She is survived by two brothers, Richard Kaspersen (Pamala) of Big Fork, Montana, and Roger Kaspersen (Barbara) of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by grandchildren Jacob Junkmann (Marie), Jaime Schilt (Corey), Scott Manship, Amber Corrieri (Damien), Ashley Danner Dove (Jeremy), and Matthew Danner (Abby). She was great-grandmother to Jayce Junkmann, Madelyn Junkmann, Sydney Schilt, Brady Schilt, Myah Manship, Jordan Corrieri, Isabella Corrieri, Mason Danner, Brynlee Danner, Ellis Dove and Maren Dove.
Services for Dawnie will be held on July 6, 2024, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation is at 10 a.m. with the service beginning at 11 a.m. Graveside services and burial is at 2 p.m. at the Westside Cemetery in Westside, Iowa.
