Kathy Backes
Kathy Backes passed away peacefully at age 74 on June 8, 2024. Born in Cedar Rapids on March 10, 1950.
Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Ken ‘KB’ Backes, her loving sons Ben ‘BJ’ Backes (Jackie Sorenson), Chris (Cari) Backes, and Tim Backes (Mina Fonze), her adoring granddaughters Ellie, Libbie, and Estella Backes, and her great-granddaughter Zula. She is also survived by her mother, Gladys ‘Hap’ Kint, and her brother, Joe Kint (Polly Taylor).
She is preceded in death by her father, Maynard ‘Buck’ Kint, her brother, Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Kint, and her grandson, Noah Backes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Croix Hospice or Sunny View Care Center, honoring Kathy’s legacy of love and generosity.
A memorial service will be held June 20, 2024, at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church (510 E. 1st St, Ankeny, IA 50021). Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., with services at 10:30 a.m.
