Joan McLoughlin

Joan E. McLoughlin, 90, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow in Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Joan is survived by her children, Debra McLoughlin of San Tan, AZ, Cheryl (Rick) Ritenour of Vincent, John McLoughlin of Fort Dodge, Therese (John) Sittig of Barabu, WI, and Brian (Marie) McLoughlin of Fort Dodge; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, Ray Shaw of Olathe, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Hazel (Tomlinson) Shaw; her husband, Raymond McLoughlin in 2019; great-granddaughter, Matayah McLoughlin; and daughter-in-law, Stacy Miller McLoughlin.

Joan Elaine Shaw was born September 28, 1933, in Fort Dodge. She attended schools in Gowrie and Harcourt and then graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1952. On August 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to Raymond McLoughlin. The couple established their home in Vincent. For a number of years, Joan worked as the city clerk of Vincent. The couple enjoyed wintering in Arizona. In 2001, the couple moved to Fort Dodge. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church.
