Darold Schoon (Rapp)
Darold Allen Schoon (Rapp), 64, of Manson, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. A visitation will be held from 5:00-800 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th, at the Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5th, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Manson. Burial will follow at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe with military honors.
Darold was born in Fort Dodge on March 5, 1960, to Wayne Schoon and Mary Rapp. He grew up in Ames, Rolfe and then Orlando, FL. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1979-1983. Darold was united in marriage to Catherine Sayles on July 6th, 1985. They made their home in California, Georgia and then moved to Manson in 2002. Darold owned and operated his own plumbing company for many years. He then worked at Manson High School as a custodian and after retiring he drove school bus for the Manson School District. While living in Georgia, he played in a band called The Southern Knights; he loved music, playing guitar and singing. He also enjoyed fishing and watching sports.
Darold is survived by his wife Cathy; his children Mark, Sarah and Michael; grandchildren Eli, Evan, Leah, Jeremiah, Jack, Sophie and Marilyn; his siblings Darla Rapp, Dawn Rapp, Laurie (Kevin) Tague, Richard (Stephanie) Schoon and Vicki (Bryan) Bilek along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Mary Rapp and Wayne and Mary Schoon; and his brothers David and Dennis Schoon.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
