Charlene Nahnsen

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Callender, Iowa, with Pastors Greg and Deb Stano officiating. Interment will be held in the Callender Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Home.

Charlene Mae Dornath was born December 24, 1939, the daughter of George and Emma (Ihnen) Dornath, and the youngest of eleven children.

Charlene married Luther A.E. Nahnsen on February 22, 1959. They had four children. They lived in Fort Dodge for a number of years before settling onto an acreage south of Moorland. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Callender, nearly 50 years, serving on various committees and enjoyed helping quilt at church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and playing cards with her family.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Luther, who passed away in 2017, and her ten siblings.

Survivors include her children Ranette (Dan) Hanson, Jeff (Colleen) Nahnsen, Kris (Randy) Dyer and Mark Nahnsen; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
