Thomas Simons

Thomas “Tom” Simons, 85, died peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Veteran Medical Center in Iowa City.

Services will be held at a later date in Fort Dodge. Memorials may be directed to charities that Tom supported.

Tom was born January 29, 1939, in Carroll, the son of Aloysius and Louise (Venteicher) Simons. He was a graduate of St. Edmond’s High School in Fort Dodge. Tom was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force.

On February 2, 1974, Tom married the love of his life Arlene Habben in Fort Dodge.

Tom was a district manager for Schwann’s for many years. For many years, Tom and his family lived in Omaha. Tom was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye fan. Even living in Omaha, every Saturday, you could see the Hawkeye flag proudly waving in front of Tom and Arlene’s home. They moved to North Liberty eight years ago. Tom was a member of the North Liberty American Legion.

Arlene would like to extend her appreciation to all the staff at the VAMC in Iowa City for their wonderful care and support.

Tom is survived by his wife Arlene; his siblings, Diana Morgan, Marjorie Kampe, and John Simons; his brothers-in-law, Harlan (Marian) Habben and Virgil (Jo) Habben; numerous nieces, nephews, and family.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and their daughter, Jennifer, and sister, Marian Bendon.
