Kenneth Cervine

Kenneth Cervine, 91, of Badger, died January 15, 2024, at the Marian Home. A service honoring Kenneth's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, at First Covenant Church. Interment will follow at the Dayton Cemetery with military honors presented by V.F.W. Post No. 1856. The family will greet friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the church. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.

Kenneth Irvine Cervine, son of Kenneth R. and Ruth (Irvine) Cervine, was born November 14, 1932. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1951. Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He married Peggy Vinsant and to this union they were blessed with one daughter Susan; the couple later divorced. Kenneth was a member of the First Covenant Church his entire life. He was proud to grow up a “West Sider” and his favorite childhood memories were playing hockey on the river and ball until dark. He continued to be active and excel in sports, being a member of three golf courses and two bowling leagues as well as playing fast pitch softball and being named to the Fort Dodge Hall of Fame. On October 2, 1971, Ken married Mary Benson. Ken was employed for over 20 years with Hormel’s until it closed and then became employed with Arrowhead AEA in the media center.

Survivors include his wife Mary, his children Susan J. Doyle of Des Moines, Kristi (Brian) Stringer of Fort Dodge, Scott (Vicki) Benson of Richfield, UT, Jan Benson, Susie Brattmiller, both of Fort Dodge; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sister Kathy (Glenn) Connor, and nephew Tony Connor, all of Ames; and his brother-in-law Lee Fredrickson, of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
