Harold Passow

Harold E. Passow, 94, of Humboldt, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday March 22, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt with a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Clare. There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday March 21, 2024, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Harold is survived by his wife, Joeleen; son, Jon (Lori) Passow; grandchildren, Shawn (Melodie) Passow of Barnum, Mallory Passow of Humboldt, Kiley Passow of Des Moines; three great-grandchildren; sister Marilyn Lynch of Redfield; sister-in-law, Bonnie Passow of Fort Dodge, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Margaret (Busher) Passow, brothers, Don and Dale Passow, sister, Phyllis Lynch, brothers-in-law, Howard Lynch, James Lynch, and Ronald Watters, sisters-in-law, Corinne Passow, and Donna Watters, and two infant great-granddaughters.

Harold Eugene Passow was born on June 3, 1929, near Pioneer, Iowa. He attended schools in Jackson #3, Gilmore City, and graduated in 1946 from Saint Matthew’s Catholic in Clare. On January 9, 1954, he married Joeleen Watters at Holy Rosary Church in Fort Dodge. In 1955, Harold was called to serve in the US Army where he graduated Track School at Fort Sill Oklahoma then served in Germany as a tank mechanic with the 82nd Recon till his honorable discharge in 1957. Once he returned home, Harold farmed in the Clare area until his retirement in 1998 when he moved to Humboldt. He also served as the director of Saint Mathew’s Church for 20+ years and was a director on the Clare COOP board for 8+ years. He also had a passion for collecting antique furniture, glassware, and farm toys.
