Allen Geerdes

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday March 8, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery with military rites by the US Army and VFW Post 1856. There will be a visitation from 9:30 until the time of service on Friday.

Allen is survived by his wife Sharon; children, Matthew (Lori) and Marc (Lauren) both of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Beverly McCreary; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Bertha Geerdes and his brother Eugene Geerdes.

Allen Lee Geerdes was born on January 30, 1944, in Pomeroy. He attended Pomeroy schools, graduating from Pomeroy High School. After graduation, he served in the US Army. On April 11, 1969, Allen was united in marriage to Sharon Harmon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Allen has worked for Centel and Frontier Communications for 38 years. After his retirement, he went on to work at Hy-Vee for another 9 years. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and meeting with all his friends at the VFW. Allen was an all-around nice person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
