Max Elmore

Max Elmore, 83, of Brookston TX passed away peacefully on at his granddaughter Ashley’s home in The Colony TX on January 29, 2024.

He was born in Jefferson, Iowa March 31, 1940, to William and Beulah Elmore, Gowrie, IA.

He married Esther on December 20, 1977 in Las Vegas and lived in the area of Kalo, IA. Max was an owner/operator truck driver for 27 years leased to Decker Truck Lines in Fort Dodge, IA before moving to Texas in 1999. In April of 1999 he began working for Buster Paving. When he hired on he was looking for a part time job but still worked up to 70 hrs most weeks and outworked most of the others half his age. Esther passed away in 2005 after they celebrated 27 years of marriage. Max retired from RK Hall Construction in June of 2021 at the age of 81.

In 2023, Max moved in full time with his granddaughter Ashley, her husband Nicholas Manto and baby Max his great grandson in The Colony, TX. He especially enjoyed his time with baby Max, watching all his old westerns and listening to music.

Max enjoyed calling square dances in his younger years, loved that he got to see most of the US trucking, liked working on cars, trucks and John Deere tractors, enjoyed 3 wheeling and riding motorcycles and had a great memory of song lyrics from the 50s-70s. He always had a great sense of humor and could get a laugh out of almost anyone.

Max is survived by his three children, Barry of Paris, TX, Melissa Miller of Oklahoma City, OK and Kimberly (Kelly) Ast of Wichita, KS; two grandchildren, Ashley (Nicholas) Manto of The Colony and Amber (Ethan) Ely of Oklahoma City; and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Esther, and sisters Theresa Brain, Rosie Hoffman and Mert Lindstrom-Gustafson.

A visitation will be held at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris Tx on Saturday February 3, 2024 from 1:30 PM till 2:30 PM. Graveside services will at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2024. Max will be buried at McDonald Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home where online condolences may be sent by visiting www.fry-gibbs.com.
