Jane Pierson

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Fort Dodge. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Jane was born in Fort Dodge on March 25th, 1926, to Alice & George Gross. She attended Fort Dodge school and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. In 1945, Jane married her high school sweetheart Gayle Pierson, and they made their home in rural Fort Dodge raising four children. She was employed at Unity Point (Trinity Regional Hospital) as a medical transcriptionist. She loved having her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around her. Jane was a dedicated member to First Baptist Church, volunteering at numerous places. She was a hard-working, compassionate figure of strength for anyone who knew her.

Jane is survived by her children: Janis Gappa, Gaylen (Kris) Pierson; Fort Dodge, Deanna (Larry) Rohrer; Estherville, IA and son-in law-Jerry Cormack; Napa, Calif.; grandchildren: Darren (Fabiola) Cormack, Chad (Lisa) Gappa, Jacob (Colleen) Rohrer, Abby (Matt) Williams, Michael (Elizabeth) Pierson and Nathan Rohrer. She was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Bobby (Lonnie) Gross, brother-in-law Vernon Pierson and numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Gayle, daughter Paulette Cormack; parents Alice and George Gross; sisters- Eltha (Al) Holm and Mary (Bob) Enquist, brothers — Jimmy (Modesta) Gross and Earl (Ruth) Gross.
