Sara Thurston
Sara Thurston, 85, of Fort Dodge, died December 8, 2023, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.
Sara Ann Kindred, the oldest child of Roy and Stella (Vance) Kindred, was born April 20, 1938, in Lake City, Iowa. She graduated from Rockwell City High School. Sara was employed for over 20 years at the telephone company and in retirement was a campground host at Kennedy Park.
Survivors include her son Charles “Chuck” (Karen) Vader of Havelock, stepchildren, Vicki Nilles of Gilmore City, Bill Thurston of Thornton, CO, Connie (John) Jordan of Ames and Lisa Tool of Gilmore City; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Thurston, her son Vint Vader, infant daughter Peggy Sue Vader and her brothers Terry Kindred, Bill Ludwig and Hap Ludwig.
