Barbara Goebel
Barbara Ann Goebel, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Chapel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Monsignor Kevin McCoy officiating. A private family burial will be held at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Barbara was born in Fort Dodge on December 9, 1941, to Walter and Irene (Kockovsky) Whelchel. She grew up in Fort Dodge graduating from St. Edmond High School in 1960. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The most important part of Barb’s life was her acceptance of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved the Catholic Church and would engage friends and family in long discussions on what was happening in the church. Barb also loved animals, with a special place in her heart for dogs and stray cats.
Barb is survived by her son John; grandchildren Alison, Jessica, Jean, Ronnie and Matthew; and her siblings Bruce and Janet. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn; son Michael and daughter Lee.
Memorials may be left to Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
