William Brian

William D. Brian, 85, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at MercyOne in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Palmer and Swank Funeral Home in Rockwell City. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 9:00 AM prior to the service at the Palmer and Swank Funeral Home.

William is survived by his wife Bonnie of Fort Dodge; children, Beth Cross of Elberton, GA, Troy (Tina) Leonard of Fort Dodge, Tammy Pallos of Fort Dodge, Tracey (Shane) McDermott of Anthon, and Tyson Brian of Ankeny; grandchildren, Emily, Adam, Collin, Jacob, Joshua, Jeremy, Alexander, Shaley, Skyler, and Sutton; 9 great-grandchildren, siblings, Richard Brian of AZ and Judy Schlarman of MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Verlene (Griswold) Brian.

William was born July 28, 1938, in Rockwell City. He graduated Rockwell City High School in 1957. On August 13, 1971, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Korf-Leonard at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Bill was the manager of the city of Rockwell City for a period of time, before he found interest and owned carnival rides and concessions with Baumann Shows Amusement business. He spent 20 years in the carnival business before becoming the manager of the Webster County Fairgrounds, where he spent the next 15 years before his retirement. Bill was a passionate fan of dirt track racing and was an avid collector and dealer of toy tractors, especially ERTL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
