Tom Bratland

Tom, the son of Ernie and Eileen Bratland, was born July 1, 1947. Tom attended Fort Dodge Schools. During his school years he was active in Moccowayan with his mentor Karl Burch. Tom was a very avid swimmer and always wanted to be a frogman and to serve his country. In the Fort Dodge Senior High School gymnasium is a “Wall of Champions”; on the wall is a plaque and picture of Tom for the State 1965 200 Medley Relay. After high school Tom joined the Navy Underwater Demolitions Team to fulfill his dream and ambition. Tom graduated at the top of his class and became a Navy Seal. Tom served his country in the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include his loving wife Roberta Bratland, his sons Daniel Thomas Bratland Jr. and Dennis Lee Bratland and daughter Ashley Ann Cobert. Tom is proudly survived by his siblings Jim (Julie) Bratland, Steve (Marilyn) Bratland, Sandy Bratland, Greg (Sally) Bratland, Tim (Betty) Bratland, several nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Eileen Bratland, brother Jerry Bratland, nephew Christopher Bratland and his biological father Donald Fitzgerald. Interment will be at North Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
