It is with peaceful yet mourning hearts to announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth (Ashley) Schoon on Monday, October 23, 2023. She was 88 years old.

Mary was born in Torrance, California, on March 16, 1935, to Robert and Dorothy (Williams) Ashley. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Dorothy Ashley, sister Laurie Ashley, her husband Wayne of 55 years and two eldest sons David Schoon and Dennis Schoon.

Mary had one sister, 7 children, 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, church, and family.

Mary is survived by her children Laurie (Kevin) Tague, Richard (Stephanie) Schoon, Victoria (Bryan) Bilek, Darla Rapp and Darold (Cathy) Schoon.

Services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manson, IA, with visitation on Friday, October 27th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28th, at 10:00 a.m. with fellowship and lunch to follow. Mary will be buried next to her husband at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe, Iowa, following fellowship and lunch. Arrangements have been entrusted with Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson.
