LAVANNE VINCHATTLE
LaVanne Vinchattle, 97, of Fort Dodge, IA, went peacefully to be with Jesus surrounded by her family on Monday, September 18, 2023, at UnityPoint Trinity Regional Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life for LaVanne will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Lighthouse Ministries. Burial will be in the Gowrie Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
LaVanne E. Wilson, the daughter of Catlin and Edith Manda (Buttz) Wilson, was born February 1, 1926, in Gilmore, City, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1944. On December 13, 1946, LaVanne was united in marriage to Beryl Vinchattle in Georgia where Beryl was stationed in the United States Navy.
LaVanne and Beryl traveled throughout the United States preaching and ministering. They spent some time in Suriname, South America. They moved to Fort Dodge in the 80’s and started several in home Bible Studies and pastored churches in Newell, Estherville, Waterloo, Fort Dodge, and Otho-Kalo. She loved the Lord with all her heart and had the privilege of leading several people to the Lord alongside her husband Beryl. She touched so many lives. The couple farmed near Gowrie where they raised their 4 children; June, Sally, Dan, and Dean.
LaVanne is survived by her children, June Bacon of Fort Dodge, Sally Ackerson of Gowrie, and Dean (Vicky) Vinchattle of Gowrie; nine grandchildren, Lonnie (Nikki) Bacon, Jeff (Jenny) Ackerson, Kimberly Ackerson, Allison (Shawn) Hynes, Joe (Kellie) Vinchattle, John (Brittany) Vinchattle, Courtney Vinchattle, Tiffany (Phil) DeCastro, and Roslyn Redman; and 23 great-grandchildren.
LaVanne is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pastor Beryl Vinchattle, son Dan Vinchattle, grandson Corey Bacon and her sister Ivola Mae Ellis.
LaVanne loved her family. Her great joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her passion was adult coloring. She always wrote her logo, “I love you and so does Jesus” on them and handed them out to everyone that visited her.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
