JANE L. HOUSTON
HUMBOLDT — Jane Louise (Dodd) Houston, 79, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away unexpectedly August 3, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Wheat Ridge, CO. Jane is survived by her husband Earl Torger Houston of Port St. Lucie, FL, and her children Dana (Kathy) Houston of Kiowa, CO, Teresa (Steve) Faes of Wheat Ridge, CO, and Trent (Jan) Houston of Port St. Lucie, FL. Bonus daughter Teresa Glacken of Pompano, FL. Also, grandchildren Zachery and Alejandra Houston of Orlando, FL, Matthew and David Faes of Wheat Ridge, CO. Great-grandchildren Emelia and Russell Houston of Orlando, FL. Sister Mary Ann (Ken) Cutting of Fort Dodge, IA, and brother Jim (Linda) Dodd of Humboldt, IA. Brother-in-law Richard (Pam) Houston of Dakota City, IA. Also several nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Ruby (Ernst) Dodd, bonus father Fred Funk, father and mother-in-law Bob and Iola Houston, brothers-in-law Mark and Nels Houston, Nephews David and John Cutting.
Jane Louise Dodd was born on March 3, 1944, in Humboldt, IA. She was educated in Humboldt and graduated with the class of 1962. She was united in marriage to Earl Torger Houston on December 30, 1963. The couple made their home in Humboldt and later moved to Colorado.
Jane had a unique ability to relate to young children. She operated a day care in her home near Pine, CO, for several years. After moving to Englewood, CO, she worked a variety of jobs with the last one being IPAK from which she retired.
Jane’s life was always centered around her family. Throughout her life she also formed many true friendships. She was an inventive cook and developed several secret recipes. She crocheted many baby blankets and was a master of macrame. She had a silly sense of humor and was a bit of a prankster. There was always laughter in her home.
At some point in the future the family plans to have a Celebration of Life where all can gather and share memories. For now, if anyone wishes to send a card of memorial, they can be sent to Earl Torger Houston, 1970 SE West Dunbrooke Circle, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952.
