KENNETH D. CONRAD

Kenneth D. Conrad, 85, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, August 14, 2023 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge with burial to follow at the Callender cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Good Shepherd.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Claudia, Fort Dodge; his son Greg Conrad (Jill), Palm Bay, Florida and grandson Chris Alley (Brynann), West Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenneth Dean Conrad was born June 12, 1938, in Dayton, IA to Don O. and Viola M. (Swanson) Conrad. During his early childhood he lived on the Rosedale Farm and attended the nearby country school. He graduated from Somers High School and went to Iowa State University where he graduated in 1960. He served with the National Guard. On August 11, 1962 Kenneth was united in marriage to Claudia Spirek at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Callender. He worked with the Agricultural Marketing Service in Abilene Texas and then was an economist in Washington, D.C. for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and for the Tariff Commission. In 1970 he joined the firm of Iowa Farms Associates in Fort Dodge where he specialized in the areas of farm management, appraisal and land sales. He was co-owner of Iowa Farms until 1994 when he established Land Sales, Inc. to concentrate his efforts on the Iowa Land Sales Report which he had been working on and expanding since 1987. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he served as church treasurer, 4-H leader, the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, Sertoma and a lifetime member of the Iowa State University Alumni Association.
