DAKOTA CITY — Phyllis Fevold, age 96, of Dakota City, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Services will be livestreamed via Lentz Funeral Home’s Website. A family inurnment will take place at Union Cemetery in Humboldt at 10:00 AM. Please note this is prior to the Memorial Service. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt.

Phyllis Arlene Fevold, daughter of Henry George and Caroline Emma Augusta (Berner) Onnen, was born on October 10, 1926, on the family farm near Knierim, Iowa. She attended County School and graduated from Manson High School in 1944. Phyllis furthered her education at Tobin Business College. On February 21, 1954, she married the love of her life, Lowell Frederick Fevold, in Manson, Iowa. They farmed near Pioneer, Iowa, before moving to Morris, Minnesota, in 1959 where she was active in church groups and card club. In 1974, they moved their family back to the Humboldt area. Phyllis worked as a cook for the Humboldt Schools and Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, but her career was raising her family.

Phyllis was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she was an active member but especially loved singing in the choir, was a member of Worthwhile Club, OFA (One For All), and Senior Citizen Card Club. She also volunteered her time by delivering Meals on Wheels.

She most enjoyed being with family and friends; playing cards; supporting her grandchildren or church youth at sporting and musical events; singing; crafting; watching her Minnesota Twins and was a faithful member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish Phyllis’ memory are her family: daughter Paula Zillmer of Overland Park, Kansas, her son Greg (Salina) Zillmer and their two children, and daughter Kristi (Brandon) Hansen and their four children; son Mark (Sue) Fevold of Bode, their sons Bryce (Courtney) Russell and two children, Nate Russell and his three children, and Reid Taggart; son Warren (Denise) Fevold of Humboldt, their daughter Chloe Moore and her two children, son Cody (Dena) Nielsen and her two children, and son Cee Jay Nielsen and his one child; son Fred (long-time girlfriend Bernie) Fevold of Coralville, his son Jake (Jenny) Fevold and their one child, son Luke (Miranda) Leonard and their one child, and daughter Bess (Kyle) Hanrahan and their one child; son Chris Fevold of Clare, his stepdaughter Katelynn (Chris) Davis, son Nicholas Jones, and son Benjamin Jones; daughter Carolyn (Al) Wright of Fort Dodge, their daughter Alicia Wright and her one child, daughter Stephanie (Sidney) McField and their two children, and daughter Jennie Wright; son BJ (Terri) Fevold of Prairie Village, Kansas, and their son Cole Fevold, son Joey Fevold (deceased 1995), and daughter Emily (Quenton) Schneider and their three children; daughter Heidi (Stan) Herndon of Fort Dodge, and her son Christopher Wardell and his four children, her son Tanner Wardell, his daughter Lesley Herndon and her three children, her son Jesse Kimball and his one child, her daughter Hailey Kimball and her three children, and her daughter Tabitha Kimball; and daughter Jeri (Steve) Lane of Humboldt, their daughter Erica (Nick) Suckow and their two children, and Sydney (Kane Kramer) Lane; and her Godchildren Gary Onnen and Karen Lienhard; six siblings-in-law; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings; husband: Lowell; grandson: Joey Fevold, daughter-in-law: and Ivy Fevold.

Memorials may be directed to Phyllis’ family and will be sent to charities of their choosing.
