DENISE DEE HILL
Denise Dee Hill, 62, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, July 7, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, from a sudden illness with her family by her side. A visitation honoring Denise’s life will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Denise is survived by her loving husband, Duane of Fort Dodge, her daughter, Jennifer C. McIlrath (Rick) Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren, Connie Bruns, Logan McIlrath, Morgan Bruns, Mackenzie McIlrath, and Benny Bruns; two brothers, Derrick Stanberg (Linda), and Chad Christensen (Brian); sister-in-law Pam (Hill) Nelson her mother Karen Jaycox. She was preceded in death by her father Keith Stanberg, son Jeremy J. Bruns, and sister Deborah Stanberg, mother- and father-in-law Bertha L. “Betty” Hill and William D. Hill.
Denise Dee Hill, the daughter of Keith and Karen (Nekvinda) Stanberg, was born December 26, 1960, in Fort Dodge. She attended Fort Dodge schools and graduated from Iowa Central Community College’s Administrative Assistant program. In October of 1977, Denise was united in marriage to Timothy Bruns.
They later divorced. On September 23rd, 2007, Denise was married to the love of her life, Duane A Hill, at Nashua, IA. Denise worked at Electrolux until the plant’s closing and was currently employed at Friendship Haven in the Journeys neighborhood where she loved working with the dementia residents. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, enjoyed camping (especially at Brainerd, MN), tending to her flowers, and bonfires with family and friends.
Denise loved taking drives through Kennedy Park with Duane in the evenings.
