JEANNE HUTCHINSON

GILMORE CITY — Jeanne Hutchinson, 83, of Gilmore City, passed away on May 30, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City, Iowa. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service. Jeanne Elizabeth Peters was born on December 28, 1939, to Henry and Grace Peters of Gilmore City. She was united in marriage to Daryl Hutchinson on September 11, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Gilmore City. Daryl and Jeanne made their home in Gilmore City where they farmed and raised their family. Daryl and Jeanne retired from farming in 1994. Daryl and Jeanne also enjoyed their winter home in Tucson, Arizona, many years, where they boasted their Tuscan shuffle board championship team status for many years. Daryl and Jeanne were avid travelers and visited all US states, Mexico, Canada, England, Germany, France, Italy, Norway and Sweden. Jeanne and Daryl were married for 55 years before his passing in 2010.

Jeanne was a life long member of the United Methodist Church. Jeanne was an active member of the UMC Women, Ladies Circle, Harnett Johnson Ladies Auxiliary, Past President’s Club, Study Club, and Senior Citizens.

Jeanne was a talented artist and shared her talent with others by assisting in painting a mural in the Gilmore City library, a main street mural and fire hydrant donated for a fundraiser. Jeanne enjoyed writing prose and presenting “lessons” for her church groups. Jeanne also loved decorating the church altar every fall with Nature’s (God’s) bounty. Jeanne was an expert seamstress and quilter and loved gifting her girls with a new piece every Christmas. Jeanne was on a golf and bowling league for many years. Jeanne loved to play cards and in the most recent years, loved going to lunch and having her beer and pizza night with her best friends.

Jeanne is survived her daughters: Linda (Lynn) Hagar, Plainfield, Ill; Brenda Benjamin, Gilmore City; Pat (Don) Cirks, Gilmore City; son, Steve (Teresa) Hutchinson, Humboldt, Iowa; grandchildren: Andrea (Onik) Bhattacharyya, Allison (AJ) Deferville, Brad (Keri) Benjamin, Jessica (Alex) Veren, Aaron (Kyle) Olson, Cassidy (Bryan) Geha, Emmett Utley and 11 great-grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Daryl, her parents, brothers Dean Peters and Leo Peters, son-in-law, David Benjamin and great-grandson Brooks Geha.
