CHARLES I. MORFORD

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie, with Pastor Kay Christie officiating. Burial will follow in Dayton Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Peterson Post #323 of Dayton. A visitation will be noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Charles is survived by his wife Sara Morford of Harcourt, children Jane Ann Morford and Charles Morford II, both of Ottumwa, Larry (Toni) Morford of Davenport, Ronald and Roger Morford, both of Seymour, Jay Slama of Dakota City, Jaci (Karen) Slama of Harlan, Rebecca Morford of Harcourt and Daniel Morford of Fort Dodge, 25 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lorraine and Blanche (Hartley) Morford, and siblings Donna Jim and John.

Charles Morford was born November 5, 1936, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and graduated from Ottumwa High School. He served in the United States Marine Reserves and the United States Air Force. Charles was previously married. He was united in marriage to Sara Sills on February 14, 1976, at Rock Island, IL. They resided in the Harcourt area for over 40 years. Charles was an avid genealogist.
