Betty Lou Fawcett, 89, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Bickford Cottage.

A service honoring Betty’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation is 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Gunderson’s. Memorials may be directed at the discretion of the family.

Betty is survived by her children, Bruce (Shari) Fawcett, Cindy (Mike) Hanley, Deanna (Jim) Schliske, and Dixie Baedke, eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her parents and 13 brothers and sisters.

Betty Lou Jones, the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Mericle) Jones, was born May 30, 1934, in the family home near Holaday Creek. She attended country schools. On July 15, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Edward Fawcett in Fort Dodge. Betty worked as a home health aide, was a volunteer for hospice, and was a proud homemaker. She was active with the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Civitan and Trinity United Methodist Church.
