JOANN (JOHNSON) CAFFERY
COUNCIL BLUFFS — JoAnn Caffery, 78, of Council Bluffs, passed away Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Council Bluffs. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, Council Bluffs.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Tom, daughter, Nicole (Jeff) Guild, twin grandchildren, Adam and Emily Guild, all of Council Bluffs; brother, Dennis Johnson, and sister, Marsha (Dan) Hickey, all of Fort Dodge; and many other family members.
JoAnn Johnson was born on Sept. 15, 1944, in Fort Dodge, to the late Howard and Helen (Fiala) Johnson. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1962. She received her master’s degree in education from Creighton University. She married Tom Caffery on August 6, 1971, in Omaha. She taught third grade with the Council Bluffs School District, retiring in 2001. In retirement, she worked at the Council Bluffs Public Library. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed camping, Omaha Lancer hockey and NASCAR races.
