KIM MOTL

Kim Motl, 66, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Friendship Haven.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Newman Grove, Nebraska. A visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.

Kim is survived by her siblings Lisa Condon of Fort Dodge, Timothy and Sherri Motl of Fort Dodge; nieces, nephews and greats, Matt and Talia Condon and their children, Clayton; Trevor; Troy, all of Palmer; Sara and Shadd Scharf and their children, Jaedyn Condon; Baylee; Daryan; Charly Scharf, all of Fort Dodge; Jake and Sara Condon and their children, Kase and Kolton, all of Fort Dodge; Will and Amanda Condon and their sons, Layne and Cody of Clare.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Ann (Kaufman) Motl, brother-in-law, Terry Condon.

Kim Motl was born April 13, 1955, in David City Nebraska. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and Iowa Central Community College. She began her political career at the side of her father, a teacher and activist in the teacher’s union, attending Democratic events. At the age of 27 in 1982, she was the youngest person ever elected as Webster County Chair. She served through 1992, with a break to serve six years on the Iowa Democratic Party’s Central Committee as a President of the Webster County Democratic Women for two years. Re-elected as Webster County Chair in 1998 she served until 2006, making her the longest serving Webster County Chair. She was awarded Iowa Democratic Party County Chair of the Year twice. She was elected to the Webster County Board of Supervisors in 2006, serving one term. Kim met and assisted all Democratic Presidential Candidates since 1984.

At the time of her death she was employed at Upper Des Moines Opportunities. Kim enjoyed traveling to livestock shows and rodeos to watch her great niece and nephews. Kim was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
