JANET PEDERSON

BADGER — Janet Pederson, 82, of Badger, died May 1, 2021, at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Badger Lutheran Church. Interment will be held in Blossom Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Janet Elizabeth Messerly, daughter of Wilford and Elizabeth (Davis) Messerly, was born October 11, 1938. She grew up in Duncombe and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1957. She graduated with a teaching degree from Drake University. She taught kindergarten for 9 years. On July 23, 1965, Janet married Robert Pederson. The couple made their home and raised their family in Badger.

Janet was a longtime member of Badger Lutheran Church and spent many years teaching Sunday school, working dinners, and putting on showers. She will be remembered for being the “glue” of the family, always a caretaker and thoughtful of others, the best cook/baker and fastest kringla maker. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert “Bob” Pederson of Badger, her children Kimberly (Lowell) Axne of Humboldt, Amy Pederson, Galen Pederson, both of Badger; her grandchildren Logan Axne (Callie Herke), Megan (JJ) Hanus, and Dalton Matter; her siblings, Richard (Darline) Messerly, and Betty (Dick) Lind; her in-laws, Eloyce (Jerry) Brown, Rich Pederson (Barb Miller), Ronnie Pederson, Teresa Pederson, Barb Messerly and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Cynthia, her parents, her brothers Harold, Larry, and Jerry Messerly, father and mother-in-law Nels and Catherine Pederson, in-laws Jan and Jerry Wheeler, Larry Pederson, Lucy Pederson and Cindy Pederson.
