STANLEY JONES

Stanley Ray Jones, 78, of Fort Dodge, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Southfield Wellness Nursing Home Center in Webster City, where he has been since December 20, 2012. A private family service will be held at Gunderson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery.

Stan is survived by his fiancee Pat Hassett, of Fort Dodge; sister Janice Jones Loving, of Manson; brothers, Larry Jones, of West Des Moines; and Bruce Jones, of Manson; as well as a daughter Sandy Sweet and her two sons, Ryan and Matthew, of West Warwick, RI; a nephew Joshua (Alycia) Jones, of Ankeny, along with two great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Lillian (Hyde) Jones.

Stanley Ray Jones was born on March 3, 1942, in Grinnell, IA. He graduated from Manson High School in 1960, where he played football, track, basketball, and played in the band. He graduated from Fort Dodge Community College with an Associate of Arts degree, then Morningside College in Sioux City, with a Bachelor of Science. He served in the Iowa Air National Guard as a Sergeant from 1965 to 1970 and then the United States Air Force to 1973. When he was in college he worked for 7Up Bottlers and Safeway of Fort Dodge, then Younkers in Sioux City. Stan retired from being a Shoes, Purse and Handbag road salesman after 35 years in Holly, Michigan. Stan liked his “Diet Mountain Dew.”

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
