VERLIN E. CLAY

Verlin E. Clay, 79, of Otho, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Trinity Regional Medical Center following a hard fought battle with Covid.

Private family services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School. The services will be live streamed on St. Paul Facebook page along with Laufersweiler Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family.

Survivors include his son Todd Clay of Fort Dodge, daughters Robin Cobb, Lori (Jim) Finnegan, grandchildren Tim (Angel) Scott, Greg Cobb, Sean Cobb, Lincoln Clay, and Katie & Miranda Finnegan all of Fort Dodge; 4 great-grandchildren, brother, Vernon (Mary) Clay of Fort Dodge, sister Crystal (Dale) Douglas of Kirksville, MO, and Karen (Don) Schoonover of Springfield, MO, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arlie and Marie (Elam) Clay, wife Diane in 2012, sister Christine Clay.

Verlin E. Clay was born on June 8, 1941, in Green City, MO. He was raised and educated in Green City, graduating from Green City High School in 1959. On August 18, 1962, Verlin was united in marriage to Diane Stevens and the couple established their home in Otho. Verlin worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric (Mid-American Energy Co.) for 12 years, Bush Hog for 20 years and in 2003 he retired from Celotex after 11 years of employment. He also worked for Hargrave Construction for 7 years. Verlin was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School. He cherished his family, friends, church and faith with all of his heart. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, his diet Mt. Dew and spending time with his family and friends. Verlin will be dearly missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
