LARRY W. CARTEE

Larry W. Cartee, 81, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, November 8, 2020, at UnityPoint- Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A service honoring Larry’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Interment will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by V.F.W. Post No. 1856 and the Iowa Army National Guard. Visitation is 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Larry is survived by his wife Jean; his children, Steve Cartee, Ames; Sheri (Brian) McLuckie, Duncombe; Cindy (Marshall) Dodge, Cathy (Roger) Bell, Ed (Karla) Black, Cheryl (Mike) Smith and Greg (Stephenie) Black; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; siblings, Denise Bockoven, Columbia, South Carolina; Malcolm (Gloria) Cartee, Tomah, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Marcia Chapman; brother-in-law, Gaylord (Judy) Marshall; and sister-in-law Linda Cartee. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Gloria, a daughter Chris Deheart, a sister Mildred Elam, a brother Robert Cartee and a brother-in-law Wayne Bockoven.

Larry Wayne Cartee, the son of Clifford and Ruth (Dugan) Cartee, was born March 3, 1939, in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge schools. Larry served in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1964. Larry was united in marriage to Gloria Marshall and she preceded him in death. On August 14, 1991, he was united in marriage to Jean Black. Larry was employed at Messenger Printing for two years and then National Gypsum for 43 years where he was a heavy equipment operator. He retired in 2002.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors, flying his remote controlled airplanes, fishing, boating, skiing and bow hunting.
