Karen E. Johnson, 78, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, October 5, 2020, at UnityPoint — Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Interment will follow in Newark Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Karen is survived by her son Randy (Rick) Barreto; her grandchildren, Olivia and Azaria; her siblings, Jerry (Anita) Johnson and Russell Johnson; one aunt and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karen Elaine Johnson, the daughter of George and Ruth (Abbott) Johnson, was born June 2, 1942, in Fort Dodge. She lived in Newark Township, graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1961, and attended Eagle Grove Community College. Karen worked in child care for many years and at Land O’ Lakes for 15 years. She also was a caretaker for many elderly people.
