FRANCES A. LYONS

Frances A. Lyons, 91, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 25, 2020, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy of Holy Trinity Parish officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Face masks are recommended and social distancing will be followed by attendees. Frances was born July 8, 1929, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (Deaton) Nafe. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1948. On May 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Lyons in Fort Dodge. Fran worked at Friendship Haven as a nursing assistant for 20 1/2 years until her retirement. Fran enjoyed reading, playing cards, BINGO, embroidery, word find puzzles, coloring, fishing, bowling and dancing. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed spending time there on the weekends as well as attending their conventions. She was also a member of the VFW, Eagles and a foster grandmother for the school system.

Frances is survived by 3 children: Ann Adams and husband Michael of Fort Dodge, James Lyons of Milton, FL, and Eugene Lyons and wife Jodylee of Moorhead, MN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a sister: Nancy McGough. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1983; a son: George Lyons in 1995; brother: Kenneth Eugene Nafe; and sister: Carolinn Howe.
