JOHN OLMSTEAD

John C. Olmstead, 58, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, August 2, 2020, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will be at Otho Cemetery.

Johnny is survived by his daughter, Noelle; father, John; and sister, Danita “Dede” Burbank (Mark Alcorn), all of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty (Hayes) Olmstead.

John Charles Olmstead was born October 24, 1961, in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School and then attended ICCC. He went to the police academy at Camp Dodge and joined the Fort Dodge Police Department in 1988. In 2011, John retired as a sergeant from FDPD. John liked taking trips on his motorcycle. Johnny had a sense of humor and was often found spending time with his dog, Tazer, and cat, Watson. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also was known for his love of cooking.
