STEVEN SPRINGER

Steven Springer, 59, of Fort Dodge, died May 31, 2020, surrounded by his family at his home, following a short battle with esophageal cancer.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the Lizard Creek Ranch, 1762 Johnson Ave., Fort Dodge. A private funeral service will be held with burial to follow at St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Juli; his three sons, Sean, Shea, Sawyer; his mother Marlene Springer (Ed Malik) of Ellsworth, IA; his brothers, Mike (Connie), Scott (Lisa), James, and Brian; his sister Sheri Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Matt Springer and father-in-law Bill Yoder.
Steven Marc Springer, the son of Matt and Marlene (Hanson) Springer, was born July 16, 1960, in Fort Dodge. Steve was a 1979 graduate of Saint Edmond Catholic High School.
On December 23, 1989, Steve was united in marriage to Julianne Yoder. Steve sold insurance for O’Connor Insurance for nearly 30 years, worked for Town and Country Insurance and was currently the VP of Mortgage Loans at Availa Bank. The couple also currently owns The Snack Shack Treats and Eats.
Steve will be remembered for his many efforts of volunteerism in the Fort Dodge Community. He served as a FDCSD board member, long time member of the FD Athletic Boosters, he helped with the Girl Scouts of Lakota Council, was a founding father of the FD Baseball Association and instrumental in establishing the Bat Cave. Steve could be found as the smiling grill master for many of the Shellabration events and served on the board for years. He was also an active member of Sertoma Sundowners and the Noon Lions Club. He was thoughtful and a “take care of everything” kind-of-guy. He loved supporting his sons in all their athletics, and their friends were his friends. Steve was deeply loved by all who knew him.
Memorials will be used to establish a future scholarship fund in his name.
