MARY E. CRAVEN

A memorial service honoring Mary’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Badger Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Mary is survived by her husband Robert; her children, Ahern (Amy) Craven, Humboldt; Sarah Pate, Badger; grandchildren, Jordan York, Sydney York, Carson York, Colten Craven, Chase Craven, Tyler Craven, Cresten Craven, Dusty Pate, Brady Pate, Zachary Pate, Cody Pate and Kinley Pate; along with a brother Samuel Cleveland, Thor. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild Sidney Craven, and her brother Mark Cleveland.

Mary Ellen Cleveland, the daughter of Orville and Miriam (Thorson) Cleveland, was born May 12, 1949, in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School and Iowa Central Community College, from the secretarial program. In her younger years, she was active in band and 4-H and was employed at Messerly’s Restaurant in Badger. On June 7, 1970, Mary was united in marriage to Robert Craven. Following her education she moved to Minneapolis before returning to the Fort Dodge area where she worked at Dr. MacDonald’s office, Land O’ Lakes and then at Riverside Elementary School where she worked in the food service department.

Mary was very active at Badger Lutheran Church over the years. She enjoyed getting together with former co-workers for coffee or lunch. Mary’s incredible love for her grandchildren was evident as she watched them in their many activities, from wrestling meets to county fairs and rodeos.
