DENNIS BEDFORD

Dennis Royal Bedford, 81, of Mt. Union, Iowa, died Thursday, April 9th, 2020 at his home. He was born August 17, 1938 in Fort Dodge to Gilbert Royal and Annabelle Lee (Ad­ams) Bedford. After living in Fort Dodge and on Grandad Adams’ farms near Callender and Farnhamville, the family moved to Harcourt in 1951. Dennis was a 1957 graduate of Harcourt Consolidated School. In 1961, he was united in marriage to Luann Triplett of Rolfe, Iowa. To this union, three sons were born, Wayne, Curt and Ron. Dennis served in communications in the U.S. Army during the early 1960’s. The couple later divorced. In 1973, Dennis married Jan Becker of Mt. Vernon, Iowa.

Dennis’s career was as an accountant serving principally the agriculture industry in Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma. He was avid fan and collector of all things Allis Chalmers and attended Allis Chalmers shows in Iowa and other midwestern states. Dennis was also a collector of old oak furniture and old gas engines and he displayed some of his engines at the annual Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant which he attended regularly.

Dennis is survived by his three sons, Wayne (Angela D.) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Curt (Kelly) of San Antonio, Texas and Ron of Sun City, Arizona; grandchildren: Sydney, Hannah, Allysa, Nick and Abigail; great granddaughter Penelope; brothers Gene Bedford of Aubry, Texas and Duane (Cindy) Bedford of Russell, Iowa; nieces, nephews and cousins. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Ann, and his one sister, Gwen.

According to his wishes, Dennis’s body has been cremated and there will be no formal services, keeping in accordance with Governor Reynold’s executive order during the Covid-19 health crisis.
