ALVIN DENCKLAU

Cremation rites will be accorded with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A service honoring Alvin’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Alvin is survived by his children, Mark (Kathy) Dencklau, Fort Dodge; Mike (Lisa) Dencklau, Kingsland, Texas; Gwen (Elmer) Miller, Marshalltown; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren; his brother Donnie C. Dencklau, Thor; and his sister Lila Schafer, Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeannette, his parents, and his sister Lois Dencklau.

Alvin Walter Dencklau, the son of Clarence and Olga (Rossow) Dencklau, was born September 22, 1928, at Vincent. He attended country schools. In 1949, Alvin was united in marriage to Jeannette Hanson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in the Vincent area, where they farmed until retiring. Alvin later worked at Smitty’s Lawn Services until retiring in 2009.
