RONALD “BUTCH” GEERDES

STANHOPE — Ronald “Butch” Geerdes, 66, of Stanhope, died, on Saturday February 8, 2020, at his home, of a long time illness with Hospice there to help care for him. Private family gathering will be held at a later date. Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) is caring for the family’s needs.

Ron “Butch” was born on August 30, 1953, to Richard and Gertrude (Schmidt) Geerdes, in Fort Dodge Iowa, into a family of eight. He married Dorene Peter on October 19, 1974, at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City, Iowa.

Ron “Butch” worked at various jobs during his life until he fell ill. He enjoyed his metal lathe job and helping his wife with cleaning jobs. During his free time, he liked his computer and playing games. He had some good long-time friends he enjoyed keeping in touch with on the computer. He loved all kinds of music, mostly rock and roll. Most of all he was a good husband and loved his family.

His family includes: wife of 45 years, Dorene; 4 children: Joel (Michelle), Lisa, Shawn, and Jessica (Mike); 13 grandchildren: Ian, Makayla, Keanna, Tyler, Breanna, Shali, Austin, Landon, Micky, Megan, Ivy, Lily, and Allyson. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Amy and Laura; and grandson Isaiah.
