JULIE ANNE BEHN

JULIE ANNE BEHN

Julie Anne Behn, 66, of Fort Dodge passed away in her home on January 5th, 2020, after a courageous 5 year fight with cancer. Before her death, she spent several good weeks surrounded by her family and friends doing what she loved; playing cards, laughing, looking at Christmas lights, eating crab legs and scalloped potatoes, having a bonfire on Christmas evening, rearranging her house just right, playing with her grandkids, enjoying lunch dates, going to church, riding through Dolliver Park, and so much more!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25th at Rides Bar and Grill from 1-4 p.m.

Julie was born January 23, 1953, in Ida Grove, Iowa. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1971 and later attained her associates degree from NEC. She played every sport imaginable in her youth, was an avid bowler, and loved the outdoors throughout her life. Some of her favorite things were dominating in foosball, spending weekends at the lake, working in the garden, her property next to Camp Wanoki, the New Orleans Saints, Willie Nelson, Alabama (especially Randy Owen) and most of all, her grandkids. In 2018, she retired from Citizens Community Credit Union after 20 years, where many coworkers and members became great friends. If you knew mom, you knew that some of her favorite times were spent taking care of the grounds at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.

She is survived by her daughters, Tania (Gerrad) Elliott & Dani (Kevin) Templeton; grandchildren Kenyon and Cooper Garrett, Aryan Keck, and Emerson & Easton Elliott; sister Shelli (Mark) Groat; brother-in-law Scott Burgess; sister-in-law Donna Behn; cousin Deanne Weldon; several nieces and nephews; and more special friends than we can count.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Bus & Bets Behn; brother Roger Behn; sister Chris Burgess; and cousin Rick Weldon.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
