DALE H. RICKE
Dale H. Ricke, 81, died January 13, 2020, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2020, at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Dale was born on July 14, 1938, on a farm southwest of Vincent, Iowa. He attended School at Colfax 2. Then he began farming with his father Herbert at the age of 14.
In 1964, he married Bernice Clavey. Along with Bernice’s two young sons, Gary and Raymond Clavey, they also had three children, Duane (Bernadette), Rochelle (Sandvick) and Darren. The family grew with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dale celebrated a successful career as a farmer. In 1968, he received the Outstanding Farmer Award. Shortly after, in 1972, he and his family were chosen to host the annual Farm Progress Show in 1974. He then continued as Field Operations Manager with the show until 1980. He also served on the board for Vitamized Feed Co. and Dawes Laboratory, as well as the board of advisors for Top Farmers of America.
In 1989, Dale and Bernice moved to Vincent, however Dale continued farming each day. Dale remained thankful to God, reflecting on His grace, guidance and blessings.
