THOMAS A. GEIST

The fun­eral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post #1856 and the Iowa Army National Guard. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Thomas A. Geist, the son of Walter and Vonceil Geist, was born in Lehigh, Iowa, on August 25, 1934, and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. In March of 1954, Tom was united in marriage to Patricia Glenn. To this union there was born six children. He entered the United States Army on April 18, 1957, and served his country until his honorable discharge on January 29, 1959. Except for his time in the military, they resided in Fort Dodge for their entire 55 year marriage. Tom was employed by USG, Hormel and later Georgia Pacific.

He enjoyed hunting, bowling, auto restoration, trips to the casino and breakfast in the park.

Thomas is survived by his son, Jeff Geist of Abilene, TX; daughters, Cara Jondle of Lincoln, NE, and Wendy Dillingham of Barnum, IA; six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; his parents; son, Scott Geist and daughters, Deanna Scanlan and Cheri Geist.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be used at the family’s discretion.
