SHARON REED

MANSON — Sharon Reed, 71, died peacefully at her home on Sat. Aug. 10, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Wed. Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tues. at the Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home where there will be a parish rosary at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Sharon Marie Hamilton was born on June 15, 1948, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Hermania (Gruntorad) Hamilton. She graduated from Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1966, and received her Teaching Certificate from Iowa State University in 1984. On September 11, 1971, she was united in marriage with John Reed in Vermillion, SD. She went on to receive further education at Iowa Central Community College in Early Childhood Development. She taught Head Start Classes in Rockwell City, Lake City, and Sac City for 38 years before retiring. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, National Association for the Education of Young Children, as well as the National Child Care Association.

Sharon is survived by her son Bryan (Amy) Reed of Madison, WI; grandchildren Alicia, Rylie, and Kylie Reed, and Kasey (Lauren) Strait; great grandchildren Madelyn and Jamesyn Strait; and one sister Kay (Terry) Peters of Fonda, IA, as well as many other friends and family, too numerous to name. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; Brother David Hamilton; and daughter Trisha.
