ANNELL FOWLER

ANNELL FOWLER

Annell Fowler of Fort Dodge passed away at the age of 92 on May 19, 2019. She was born November 13th 1926 in Manchester. Her family moved to a farm in Lohrville. She grew up and worked on the farm until age 18. She then left home to seek work opportunities and eventually pursued her dreams in the “Big City”, Fort Dodge. She would often recall some of her happiest times were working for Younkers in the hosiery department. She met John Fowler and soon they married in November 1948. They had 4 children together. In 1962 the family moved to California and resided there for 30 years. During this time she had a day care business in her home. After divorcing, Annell decided to move back to Fort Dodge in 1992 to be near her sisters. Over the years she continued to provide day care for the children of many young families here in town. She took great pride in her home and loved her yard, gardening, and all of the “visiting” wildlife. She was especially fond of all her pets she adopted during her 25 years in Fort Dodge, her latest being her cat Missy.

Annell will be remembered for her “gift of gab”, if there was a willing listener, she always had stories to tell and lots to talk about.

She is survived by 2 sisters, Rose Jochims, and Coral Dawn Jaeschke, 1 daughter, Elizabeth Baxley, 3 sons, David, Marc, and Michael Fowler, 2 daughter-in-laws, 3 grandsons and 2 wives, 1 step grand-daughter, 1 great grandson and 3 great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to niece Barbara Kolesar: a retired instructor of 30 years for the nursing program at the Community College in Fort Dodge. Due to her knowledge and expertise she was able to orchestrate countless arrangements for Annell. Barbara, thank you for all of your help, numerous extras, steadfast dedication, and your constant overseeing of Annell’s care and well-being for years. The transition from her home to the nursing home has been especially difficult and challenging. All you have done is so appreciated and we are forever grateful.

The family wants to thank all of the caregivers who provided care and assistance for our mother: her sisters, Rose Marie and Coral Dawn, Brady, Penny, Pam, Janice, Shannon, Madison and Diane.

A memorial service will be held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 1st, 2019.
