BARBARA K. OLESON

Barbara K. Oleson, 77, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Diana Koob, Webster City, and Michelle (Tom) Cerwick, Dakota City; granddaughters Crystal (Billy) Downs, Humboldt and Bridgett Koob (David Mohr), Lake City; great-grandchildren Braden, Abigail, Kipten, Jared, Aaron, Brielle and Xavier; sisters Judy (Dave) Thompson, Gilmore City and Brenda (Jerry) Garrett, Fort Dodge; brother Larry Bockoven, Fort Dodge and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Willard Bockoven, mother Dorothy Bockoven and grandson Sean Cerwick.

Barbara Kay Bockoven, the daughter of Willard and Dorothy (Graves) Bockoven, was born March 12, 1942 in Fort Dodge, Iowa where she attended schools and later worked various jobs. On March 23, 1962, Barbara was united in marriage to Richard Oleson. To this union two daughters were born. The marriage was later dissolved. In earlier years, Barbara enjoyed baking and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, mall walking, walking outdoors, going to garage sales and flea markets, playing bingo, going to casinos, concerts and traveling.

In later years, she did volunteer work, her favorite being a foster grandparent where she enjoyed working with children of all ages. Barbara will be sadly missed by family and friends.
