IVADELL M. PETERS-STAPLES
GILMORE CITY — Ivadell M. Peters-Staples, age 91, of Gilmore City, passed away at the Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lizard Township, Palmer. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home, Gilmore City.
Ivadell Marie Nomann was born June 13, 1926 near Palmer, IA. She was the daughter of John and Thercsia (Reiter) Nomann. Ivadell was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Palmer. She graduated in 1944 from Palmer High School. On March 18, 1945, Ivadell married Donald G. Peters at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The couple raised their six children at the Peters’ family farm near Gilmore City.
Ivadell was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lizard Township, Palmer, IA and was very active in her church. She was an avid reader, an accomplished quilter and enjoyed music, gardening and baking. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include Ivadell’s brother, Merlin Nomann, Modesto, CA, and her six children: Linda Sheely and Nancy Wilts, Omaha, NE; Kathy Krause, Fort Dodge, IA; David Peters, Medford, OR; Stephen Peters, St. James, MN; and Susan Sanders, Temple, TX. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as her former husband, Ken Staples.
Ivadell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Peters; sister, Eileen Hohensee and brother, Kenneth Nomann.
