PAUL L. MARTIN

Paul L. Martin, 70, of Fort Dodge, died on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Wed­nes­day, April 11, 2018 at the First Cov­enant Church in Fort Dodge with the Rev. Allan Redenius officiating. Burial will be held on Thursday at the East Grace Cemetery in Peterson, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Paul Luther Martin, the son of Ruben and Lucille Martin, was born on March 25, 1948 at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN and grew up in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. On May 2, 1970, Paul was united in marriage to Lorraine Hallum. Paul worked for Sears in Fort Dodge as a division manager. He later owned Paul Martin Realty and Alpha One Wholesale Screen Printers as well as investment properties. Paul was the first chairman of the CCS School Board, an office he was honored to hold for 5 years.

Paul was a passionate man of conviction who had a clear vision of the kingdom of God and that influenced everything he did. Sharing Jesus’ love for people, he used his gift of evangelism, sharing with all who would listen, his hope in the saving power of Jesus Christ. He was a very creative hard-working man of adventure who loved life. He was always discovering new things that he would use in engineering a solution to mechanical challenges or life’s problems. He loved flying, RV travel, people and especially his family. He truly cared for their souls.

Paul is survived by his wife, Lorraine; their two children, Chad (Alicia) Martin of Palm Harbor, Florida and Jennifer (Jordan) Chapman of Windsor, Colorado; six grandchildren, Joshua Martin, Noah Martin, Levi Martin, Ezekiel Martin, Emma Chapman, and Sophia Chapman. He is also survived by his two brothers, David (Sharen) Martin of Stacy, Minnesota and Jonathan (Ann) Martin of Princeton, Minnesota; plus, many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Lorraine’s siblings, Cliff & Diane Hallum of Rushford, Minnesota, Denny & Mary Nelson of Eagan, Minnesota, Eric & Lois Pawlowski of Eagan, Minnesota, and Scott & Carolyn Panning of Blaine, Minnesota. Paul is preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Teman and Geneva Hallum.
