CAROLYN GRACE DAVIS

Carolyn Grace Davis passed away July 12, 2017 surrounded by her family, following a recent stroke. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m on Saturday, July 15, 2017 with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Carolyn G. Kreger was born Dec. 9, 1947 in Carroll, IA to Floyd and Edith (Thomas) Kreger. She lived in Ralston, IA for her first eight years. Her family moved to Fort Dodge in 1955. Carolyn attended schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1966. She then attended ICCC in 1966 and again in 1981. On April 8, 1967, Carolyn married Steven R. Davis in Fort Dodge. One daughter, Justine, was born to this union in 1970. After their marriage, Carolyn and Steve lived in Humboldt and then upon his enlistment in the Army, moved to Aberdeen, Maryland for 2 years. The couple later divorced but remarried in 1987.

Carolyn was a homemaker, but was also employed as a secretary, dental assistant and customer service worker for various businesses in Fort Dodge through the years. She was a past member of the Fort Dodge Jr. Women’s Club, First United Methodist Church and several book groups.

Carolyn was passionate about reading, collecting a personal library of over 1000 books. She was an avid jewelry collector, movie buff, and took great pride in her appearance. She adored her family and was happiest when shopping or traveling with her daughter. She had a special love for her grandson, and never ceased being thankful for her “second chance” with Steven. She had special memories of Maryland, as well as living on the gulf coast of Florida. She loved life!

Survivors include her husband Steven, daughter Justine S. Davis of Fort Dodge, grandson Spencer Lee of Des Moines, her niece Grace Kreger and nephew Ross Kreger, and many other extended family and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Scott T. Kreger.
