JAMES “JIM” EVERETT LYNCH
James (Jim) Everett Lynch of Laurens, South Carolina died on January 28 at the age of 84 years old in Houston, Texas after a brief illness.
Jim was born in Barnum, Iowa in 1932, son of the late Robert Emmett Lynch and Ann McCarty Lynch. He is survived by his wife Dona Keown Lynch, two sons Everett Lynch and wife Lynnette of Houston, TX and Kevin Lynch and wife Joyce of Charlotte, NC and their daughters Teagan and Quinlan; two sisters Peggy Olson of Moreland, IA and Sharron Eichler of Cold Water, OH; and one brother Daniel Lynch of Long Beach, CA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother Robert Lynch.
Jim was a US Army veteran. He later graduated from Iowa State University. He was a Machine Design Engineer for the 3M Company and GE, dedicating much of his career to designing manufacturing equipment including ceramic fabrication and most notably work on of the first generation of microchips. He was infinitely curious and loved reading, especially all things related to science and technology. He was kind to everyone, the best friend to all dogs and some cats too. Jim was without a doubt a loving husband and dad. Even more so, he is forever the smartest, funniest and silliest YeYe (grandad).
The family invites friends to celebrate his life on Friday, February 17 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at their home, 114 Court Street, Laurens, SC. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Chattanooga, TN.
